The connection method for you?
Razor is a touch harder for some people to set up as you may need to go browseing into your computers files, however allows you to change the server address for testing with allure staff, if and when you are asked to, much easier, if you like testing you can set this up on Connect UO too, but that is a harder process.
Connect UO is a much easier way to connect and allows you to use razor and it's features with ease, the only down fall here is setting up a way to let you test things on Allure's test servers if you ever want to.
Connect UO and Razor, This is the most ideal method, while yes, you will have a harder time setting up for test server, they happen only when there are new things to test or bugs to be found. It is much easier to connect with Connect UO and use razor for it's abilites.
In the long run it is up to you which method you want to use to connect to Allure but any method you take you have the knowledge now to do it.

First off you need to press the button below, After it downloads you a will be able to start the install, this takes awhile, go ahead and go to your friends house and kick back this can take a large part of your day.

Now you have it installed do not press the ultima online button that is on your main screen nor let it start on its own, it will come up with a screen that says patch's. If it is already up STOP IT!!!
You need to do something really simple. It takes about 2mins! This step can save you hrs having to reinstall the entire thing you waited all day to get ready.
You now need to tell Mondain's Legacy how far to patch, this is easy! Go to this location:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy\patch Right click create a new txt file, and then rename that file to: uoml_win32_5-0-6d.rtp
Right click this file you just made and then Left-Click Properties, Find the Check Boxes at the bottom of the Properties Box, click the Read Only box and make sure a check appears in the box, then just press OK. Failure to do this and you will cry, because you will have to reinstall everything all over again.. *bummer*
IN SOME CASES.... It's possible that the file will be: uoml_win32_5-0-6d.rtp.txt (.txt at end) and you will not know it cause the file extention is often hidden on new systems.
More or less all you need to do is go into a folder and hit Tools -> Folder Options -> View and show extentions of known file types..
This from what I have seen is different in windows 7, I did not run into this problem. I will have to look into it and see if it does this to different people. But again it CAN NOT have (.txt) at the end of the file. IT HAS TO HAVE (.RTP)!!!

Now it is time to press that pretty new ultima Online button on your main screen It is time for your patch's!! Watch it, and hope you did your steps right, if you did not at least you can do a little trick that will save your life.
Allow it to update itself until it get's to 5.0.6c at this point it should try to update to 5.06d and fail. If it all works out, it should say.

But if it does not say error, stop the download and hope you stopped it before it got done.

Now you should have your Ultima Online updated to the correct level and ready to roll!!!
Now this is the fun part!
Now download this. It is called ConnectUo, this is how you will connect!
It is easy to use and will help you out so much!
NOTE: If you are using windows 7 you will be required when connectUO is downloaded to right click it and press run as admin.
When it opens in the filter on top type in: Allure
then in the top right hand corner press "play"
When you press it, it will start a download of Allure's patch's, allow it to download, it will take a little while so go make supper!
But finally after its all done, you should be able to access the game!

Please follow steps 1 - 3 of the Connect UO guide before starting the Razor Guide.
Benifits of Razor: The benifit of connecting with razor is that when or if you would like to help Allure of the Unknown test various things it will be easier to set up from razor as the only thing you will need to change is the Server and Port that you are connecting to.
Downfall of Razor: You will have to download the patches for Allure of the Unknown and then install them manualy. This is actualy easy to do if you understand computers. However if you do not, I recommend Connect UO as it will take care of the patches for you as they come out and install them for you. It is up to you however which path you chose.

Download patches and Razor program
Install Razor after it downloads but do not run it yet.

Extract the .rar patch files for Allure of the Unknown to your UO patch folder
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Ultima Online Mondain's Legacy\patch
In the order listed above (wait for the one to be compleated before moving on to the next).
If/When asked, tell the computer to overwrite/replace the existing files in the folder with the new ones

Open razor and wait for it to load. Once loaded there will be a welcome screen closer to the bottom are two fields we want to change the server and port.
Set the server field to read: 208.65.131.66
Set the Port field to read: 5900
(optional) Remove the check for "Show this when Razor starts" as you no longer need to set up this information.
Click okay and the UO window will pop up.
[edit] Connect UO and Razor - The best of both worlds
You can use the simplisity of Connect UO to connect and get the assisting features of Razor. To do this simply follow the steps for connecting with Connect UO, then download and install Razor Razor's Website
Run Connect UO and click the Settings button on the left under Options. Once the settings screen comes up click the Ultima Online section and make sure the check mark is places next to the Launch Razor with Client option. Now when you go to play allure, Razor will also open and you may use it's abilities.
