Crafting Skills
From Uopedia
On some other shards, skill gain is quicker if you have a higher chance of failure when using the skill. This means that whilst the time taken to gain the skill may be shorter, the downside is you waste more resources.
Here on Allure, however, the odds of gaining are the same as long as you have at least 0.1% chance of failing, so if you craft an item with 99.9% success chance you can still gain in that skill, (bear in mind that you will improve your chance of making the item if you do) so ideally you would craft with a high success chance so you could either use your materials again or sell that which you had made.
In the interests of economy, therefore, a good strategy would be to look for an item to craft that uses the least amount of resources and a good chance of success to make. This way you gain in the skill and you can sell on your end product.
The same would apply for spells and other skills that are not strictly classed as 'crafting'.
Lastly to finish off your stats (Str, Dex, Int) you can keep using a skill (even if you have it at 120) to gain as long as you have a chance of failing when using it. For example, mining is good for gaining Str, snooping (with Guildmate's permission) or any of the music based skills for Dex and evaluate intelligence for Int.
There are others that will raise your stats too.
